Spy Missions, What the Movies Get Wrong & Selecting the Right Alias

In this podcast, Kirsch Group founder Andrew Kirsch talks about his memoir and takes you behind the scenes to demystify CSIS and reveals what it’s really like to be a Canadian Spy.

Ask anyone on the street if the United States has a spy agency, and they will say, “Sure, the CIA.” Ask those same people to name Canada’s spy agency, and you will most likely be met with a blank stare.

That’s because there are many books about what it’s like to work for a foreign intelligence service like the CIA, MI6 or even the Mossad. So much so that it seems like a new American government agent tell-all comes out every week!

There has never been a book about what it’s like to be a Canadian Spy. Until now.

Andrew recently visited The Andrew Lawton Show to chat about his memoir “I Was Never Here: My True Canadian Spy Story of Coffees, Code Names, and Covert Operations in the Age of Terrorism.” Lawton and Kirsch discuss what it was like working for Canada’s spy service, demystify some of those things we may have read in other spy books or seen in the movies, and provide some advice for anyone thinking of becoming a Canadian spy
