Kirsch Group is proud to offer emotional intelligence and leadership courses. Kirsch Group takes lessons learned from the high-stakes and high-pressure National Security Careers to train military and civilian groups on emotional intelligence, leadership, and developing high-performance teams.
Our Signature Program – The Instructor Personal Growth Program
The Instructor Personal Growth Program is a Kirsch Group partnership with Bornea Dynamics. Courses are provided to the Department of National Defence Combat Training Centre (CTC). The CTC is Headquartered at 5th Canadian Division Support Base in Gagetown in Oromocto (New Brunswick). Courses have also been held on Bases in Borden and Kingston Ontario.
The CTC’s mission is to support Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) readiness and modernization. It analyzes, develops, and leads individual training to meet the requirements of the Canadian Army (CA) and the CAF. With the aim of providing realistic and relevant training by using modern technologies and learning methodologies, it produces adaptive and agile soldiers and leaders for current and future operating environments.
As a part of the military culture change initiative, The CTC recognized that culture change is the responsibility of leaders at all levels. Instructors are often new soldiers’ first introduction to the military. This training initiative is aimed at supporting cultural change by providing self-growth opportunities for instructors so military leaders can model behaviour while more confidently providing interpersonal support and a positive training environment to better prepare the next generation of soldiers and military leaders.
This course is rooted in the Military Ethos of the Canadian Forces – articulated in the foundational document of military values and principles called “Trusted to Serve”.

Teaching Modules include:
• Character and Leadership
• Safe Spaces and Brave Spaces
• Sympathy, Empathy and Compassion
• Emotional Intelligence
• Unconscious bias
• Psychological Health and Safety
• Approach and Avoidance strategies
The military has a unique challenge – it must foster a training environment that is aimed at preparing its soldiers to “close with and destroy the enemy”. This is obviously not the typical Emotional Intelligence office learning environment. Kirsch Group Founder – Andrew Kirsch is a former Canadian Forces Reserve soldier and member of another paramilitary organization (CSIS). He understood that this training is essential to support troops more effectively carrying out their duties not take away from their underlying function. A more cohesive team and supportive training environment will better prepare the soldiers of tomorrow not to detract.
The Goals of the Course Include:
1. Enhanced self-awareness when we better understand ourselves – our gifts, challenges, strengths, and growth opportunities we can more effectively engage with those around us. 4. Better Team Dynamics Effective teams are built on trust which is gained through understanding, cooperation, and respect among team members.
